Description

Pollen is the reproductive cell (gametophyte) men that is spread from plants and transported by insects, animals and wind to fertilize the female reproductive system of a ’ another plant of the same species.

 

Sources

The pollen comes mainly from outdoor plants mainly doorways, Windows and cracks, or deposited on clothes, shoes and pets.

There are no reference values.

 

Health effects

The main health effect due to exposure to pollen is the allergy. In the pollen season follow the blooms of various types of plants that determine the appearance of the characteristic symptoms in defined periods: rhinitis, conjunctivitis, cough, dyspnea, asthma.

 

Control measures

In periods of peak pollen density avoid being outdoors, close doors and Windows and prefer the ventilation by air conditioning systems to natural.
